Membership Registration

Membership Rules & Guidelines

  • Members are required to have taken a class from us in the past.

  • Memberships are auto-renewing. Please let us know if you won’t be renewing your membership at least two weeks in advance. Refunds will not be given without receiving this notice.

  • Members must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Members MUST sign up through calendly to reserve their open studio spots.

  • Access to the studio is only permitted during designated times (Monday through Sunday 8am - 10pm).

  • All members are required to label and keep all personal items including tools, clay, in progress and completed pieces, etc. on your assigned shelf or in your designated studio area.

  • Members should mark and identify each piece or it will not be fired.

  • Member shelves are assigned by Workshop SLC Staff.

  • Shelf space should be kept organized and clutter free.

  • All containers must be clearly marked as to its contents.

  • Non studio members are not permitted in the studio to create or fire work.

  • Please note that our bisque kiln fires to a cone 04, and our glaze is a cone 5. Make sure you are purchasing clay that fires to these specific cones. We are a MID-FIRE studio. This will also affect the glazes that you purchase from outside the studio. These glazes need to be stable enough at mid-fire temperatures so that they do not drip on our kiln shelves. If you are unsure about the glaze you are using, you must make a test tile and fire that first.

  • All studio members are responsible for studio cleanup after use. This includes all equipment, tools, tables, wheels and wedging tables.

  • No clay in the sinks: put clay slurry in appropriate buckets to avoid possible clogs. The sink in the pottery classroom is the only one with a clay trap. DO NOT use any other sink in the building.

  • If you use them, please keep the fridge, microwave, and sink clean. You are responsible for your own dishes and disposal of garbage.

  • Absolutely no use of outdoor-only or toxic aerosols, varnish, clay, glazes, or paint inside the building. Do not use any toxic chemicals or sprays inside until your work has been completely dried.

  • Please keep plaster use in designated plaster areas only.

  • Please close and securely lock all doors and shut off all lights if leaving the building unattended. Any damage resulting from failure to do so will be paid by you.

  • Members are not permitted to touch, move or handle work that is not their own.

  • No production pieces. If you need to fire more than 10 pieces at a time, speak to a manager first.

  • Do not prop open any entrances during or after business hours and please do not share an entrance code with anyone not on your member agreement (including cleaners, handymen, or any other contractors).

  • Workshop SLC is not responsible for stolen property from a studio or common area, regardless of whether such loss occurs when the area is locked against entry or not.

  • Treat others in the studio with kindness and respect. If there is a conflict please speak to a staff member immediately.

  • No smoking or firearms are allowed inside the building.

  • Infractions against the Workshop SLC policy or member agreement may result in early termination of your membership.

Please email us at contact@workshopslc.com if you have any questions.
