Workshop Description
Learn how to make narrowneck forms on the wheel! In this workshop, you will learn how to create nearly closed forms, ranging from simple bottles to elegantly flared bud vases. If you already have a basic understanding of how to use a pottery wheel and are looking to improve your skills, this workshop is for you. Students will be able to keep a couple of their favorite vases from the day.
Schedule: 4 hours (10 am - 2 pm)
Wedging: demo and practice ~ 30 minutes
Demonstration: throwing a simple bottle form ~ 30 minutes
Practice: throwing bottleneck forms with 2-4 pounds of clay ~ 60 minutes
Demonstration: Making an elaborate bud vase ~ 30 minutes
Practice: 90 minutes

Artist BIO
Molly Wireman focuses on large scale pottery, production functional wares, and illustrations on clay. She has done ceramics since she was a child and loves the challenge of making complex, large vessels on the wheel. Molly has taught ceramics for over 2 years at Visual Art Institute, and enjoys sharing her knowledge of the craft with others.
