How I Teach

I teach all skill levels. The moment I join you at your easel I teach at your level. I have brand new painters along with intermediate and advanced painters in my art classes. We love creating work together. The students in my classes each have a unique and original way of creating work. No one paints the same way. Each person chooses their own subject and style of painting. Some students prefer abstract while others like to paint in an impressionistic manner. Some students paint in a traditional way while several like to render their work using contemporary techniques. It’s up to you.

My students work with oil paint. I think oil paint is easier for beginners to handle for three reasons. 1) It doesn’t change color as it dries which makes matching color easier, 2) It stays wet long enough so that you can manipulate the paint when blending or softening edges, and 3) oil paint is very forgiving. If you want to adjust an area in your painting you can scrape off wet paint and immediately add new changes.

My art classes are on-going throughout the year. Monthly tuition is paid the last week of each month for the next month. Example: in the last week of August you will pay your September tuition. Your tuition guarantees your space in the scheduled class for the entire month. If you don't pay your tuition on time, your place in class may be reassigned to a new student.

I’d love to paint with you!
