Workshop Description
Learn how to create thoughtful, engaging portraits using natural light and a deeper understanding of your subject. This class will introduce the foundations of photographing people, including composition, posing, working with available light, and helping your subject feel comfortable in front of the camera.
The first part of the class will include a 2 hours of lecture, discussion, and visual examples focused on portrait techniques and creative decision-making. After an hour break for lunch, participants will head to a nearby park to practice photographing models. This hands-on portion will give students the chance to apply what they learned, experiment with natural light, and receive guidance while working with people.
This class is ideal for photographers who want to feel more confident photographing people, whether for portraits, lifestyle images, family sessions, creative projects, or everyday storytelling.
Please bring your own camera to the workshop. Both digital and film are welcome. This workshop will not cover basic camera operation, so participants should already be familiar with how to use their camera.
